A recent morning of kayaking along the Downeast Coast presented me with this photo opportunity. Behind me as I took this photo is an open bay, as we are on what appears from a distance to be a sandbar. But there is no sign of sand here; this is a bar of crushed seashells connecting three islands.
My first time here was painful because I was barefoot, but I still wanted to explore. I don’t go there barefoot anymore.
This was a good experience as we saw schools of fish, jellyfish, seabirds, and a couple of seals, a great way to experience the Maine coast.

A beautiful picture of the way life should be especially on the bay
