Sunrise Sunset

A photo of a recent Sunrise I witnessed. I used to work the overnight shift, where I had known the darkness and the night sky, so many things to look at in that sky if you take the time.

But even as a night walker for so many years, my favorite time was when the natural light slowly began to appear, the first sign of the coming day. There is almost a void of sound during the late-night hours, which slowly fills with the sound of birds as the light approaches, before the sounds of humans.

I don’t see all the sunrises, but I do prefer a sunrise over a sunset. Sunrises are quiet, intimate. Most people are still at home preparing for their day when the light of the new day arrives; some are still in bed, and others are finishing their third shift. Unless it’s sunrise on a lace like the top of Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, you generally don’t see a crowd.

Which do you prefer, a sunrise or a sunset?
