The Penobscot Narrows Bridge

I have taken numerous photos of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge over the years. All of those pictures I took were either on one of the approaches to the bridge or on the bridge itself. All are photos I’m happy with.

A couple of nights before this photo was taken, I was driving through Bucksport, on a street I hadn’t driven on before. I was struck by the view of the Penobscot Narrows Bridge with the view of Main Street in the foreground. For several reasons, I wasn’t able to stop to get a photo that night, a very real pet peeve of mine. I kept this spot in mind, knowing I would be traveling through Bucksport again. A couple of nights later, I was able to get this photo.

I like this photo because it gets away from the touristy marketing photos of the bridge or the pictures that many others and I have taken from the viewing areas. This one, to me, tells a little bit of the life in the shadow of the bridge, something easily forgotten about by those who travel over it.

This was something different and a fun photo to take, but I know most, if not all, of my photos should be fun, otherwise why take them?

I hope you enjoy this one.

Bucksport, Maine.
