My recent hiking adventures took me to Maiden Cliff and its surrounding area. Personally, I found the hike up from the Maiden Cliff Trailhead to be a good workout. It took me about 35 minutes, and I didn’t feel like I was going fast.
The wind and views from the top of the cliffs made the effort worthwhile. A carpet of fall colors stretched out before me below the cliffs and outwards.
The white cross at the top brings a spiritual feel. I felt humbled to be walking in a spot where a 12 year old girl fell to her death while trying to catch her hat that the wind had grabbed so many years ago.
As I left the cliffs and hiked higher, I was surprised and delighted to realize I could see Peaked Mountain in Clifton. For many different reasons, Peaked Mountain has a special place in my heart. Mount Waldo was another peak I was able to pick out.
A great area to hike, with numerous trails offering various options.
