I didn’t go looking for Canada Geese. I was just trying to get from point A to point B, and the numerous errands in between. I had fallen behind in my self created schedule for the day, but not too bad, still manageable.
Then I noticed the low clouds, or perhaps fog slowly crawling up the mountain ridge off in the distance. I do love a good photo opportunity and felt this had the potential to be one the way the clouds were moving. So much for getting back on schedule.
I turned up the next road I felt would get me to a spot to capture this scene, though I wasn’t really sure where that would be. Soon I lost sight of the mountains. As I continued down the road something off to the right caught my eye.
In the narrow winding channel of the Saco River there they were, two Canada Geese swimming along. My plans changed again.

Once I was out of vehicle and on foot the challenge became finding a spot with a clear view, close enough for my lens, while not scaring the geese off. I tried a few different locations along the river. The geese knew I was there, and like any living creature, would turn just as I was clicking the camera for a spot.
In the end, I got some good photos; one is below. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed the effort to capture it.
